Copeland's
is located on the cusp between Washington Heights and Harlem. This
fusion area, is rebuilding. Once plagued by drugs and violence,
the intersection of 145th and Broadway is still "hot".
The emergence of Rite Aid, clothing stores, and small businesses
are testimony that the neighborhood is in transition. The area has
also become more diverse with more people from ethnic groups looking
for more space for less money. Through it all, the one consistent
pillar has been Copeland's.
Live entertainment, holiday specials, private parties, and consistency
make this place a haven for regulars. When you go to Copeland's
you know what you will be getting; good food, large portions and
reasonable prices. Ribs, chicken, seafood, turkey wings, ox tails,
and pork chops are choices that are sure to please. Great side
order options are well prepared and well seasoned. Home made rolls
and corn bread highlight great entrees. Specials such as "Chicken
and Waffles" are featured at times as well as "house
specials". You can't go wrong with these chefs. Small crowds
always equal better quality in food presentation. There is rarely
a madhouse.
Desserts
are average, but there is rarely room after eating such colossal
and rich entrees. Very cozy and ideal for a couple's night out.
If you want to go home, the cafeteria is connected to the restaurant.
The food in the restaurant is superior, but the take out is worthy
of an "eat in" date. Check this one out. Breakfast is
the best in town.
