If you are not looking for it, you would
probably miss it. Ivorie is located at 76 East 119th Street
between Park and Madison Avenues, closer to Park Avenue. The
area is currently being refurbished causing it to appear a
little desolate.
Ivorie’s is a quaint little restaurant with
an amazing West Coast African cuisine. The chef comes from the
Ivory Coast and the waitress is from Upper Volta - which borders
the Ivory Coast. The staff has a great sense of humor and the
service is cool! The menu is dynamic - it changes on a daily
basis. I had dry okra and beef on a bed of white rice.
The beef was... oh so tender. I really
enjoyed it. Most of the customers are from Guinea and the Ivory
Coast. My French is limited so let’s try to keep it real. It was
a unique experience.
