Strictly Roots Restaurant
2058 7th Ave
New York, NY 10027
(212) 864-8699
A small, relaxing, family owned spot a bit
removed from the hustle and bustle of nearby West 125 street. It
is a unique Harlem restaurant because it is totally vegetarian.
Roots' patrons come from diverse backgrounds and occupations but
all have the same frame of mind and that is to eat healthier.
Strictly Roots' motto is "We serve nothing
that crawls, walks, swims or flies." So if you're looking for
oxtail or curry goat, you won't find it here. One of my favorite
aspects of the cuisine is that it is cooked daily with fresh
organic produce. Anyone who shops organic will tell you that
organic food is expensive but Roots has found a way to serve it
at a reasonable price.
They offer a wide array of dishes, from the
Chinese inspired tofu in plum sauce to the Caribbean pastry
vegetable patty. They boast a vegetable juicer and, for people
who like sweets, a wide assortment of pastries using honey, cane
juice or brown sugar as sweeteners. Strictly Roots is one of
those restaurants that appeals to a wide audience. So if you're
a vegetarian in the city looking for a place to eat or a regular
meat eater who wants to try something new, Strictly Roots is the
place to go.
